"My love for photography started in 1979 when I picked up my first SLR camera, a Fujica STX-1. A passion for the still image began there and continues to grow. It has taken me on a fascinating journey that began professionally with 9 year stint in the national music press travelling worldwide photographing bands, film directors and actors. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have done so"

Working in London and the South East Steve has spent the last 20 years as a freelance photographer in the built environment during which time he has established long term relationships with a  number of clients.

"Running alongside my paid work are two projects exploring history and development in the built environment. One looks at the DDR official structures of 1950s/1960s Berlin, the second is documenting the Thamesmead development in South East London, to some a Brutalist masterpiece and others a run down estate.

My third project is  based in the South Wales Mining Communities and in and around the Sierra Pandols in Catalonia. With this I'm looking at the place of birth and the place of  death of four Welsh Miners who volunteered with the International Brigades to fight Franco during the Spanish Civil War , all four died on the Ebro."
